Different Wear States of Coated Grinding Wheels

Wear conditions on abrasive grinding discs include three forms, which are wear, crushing and shedding.

abrasive grinding discs

Normal Wear

The coated grinding wheel abrasives are formed to small prisms after many times of grinding process. In the grinding process, due to the mechanical friction that made by workpiece hard point, high temperature oxidation and diffusion, the abrasive cutting edges wear and become passivation.

Crushing

Grinding wheel abrasive after standing repeated heating and cooling processes, formed the great thermal stress on surface, at last the abrasive occured a part of crushing along the surfaces.

Shedding

In the grinding process, the corresponding bond performance weakened as the grinding temperature rising. When the grinding force increases until surpass the bond adhesion strength, the abrasive particles will fall off from the coated grinding wheel.
