aluminum core, slice stone, metal grinding wheel-Lexicon BD-30 BluStarting out this gallery of Blu-ray Disc players shown at CEDIA 2009, is Lexicon's first entry into aluminum core the Blu-ray Disc player market. Lexicon is high-end manufacturer and its new BD-30 slice stone Blu-ray Disc Player is priced at a hefty $3,500.
However, is it as high-end metal grinding wheel as it looks? Although the Lexicon brand-name, combined with THX-Certification, definitely removes it from the realm of the budget price-range, the BD-30 still looks like it is based on the OPPO BDP-83 platform, which sells for $500; substantially less that Lexicon's $3,500 price tag (check out Lexicon/OPPO front and rear panel comparisons). Both the Lexicon BD-30 and the OPPO BDP-83 reportedly employ the same Anchor Bay VRS video processing chip and their other features and specifications are eerily similar. Perhaps Lexicon has done some extra tweaking in the audio output and power supply sections for added value. |
